HOLD THE LINE
Once per battle, before combat reveals: a friendly defender gains +2 Rank for this combat.
What it means in play
Once per battle, before combat reveals, give a friendly defender +2 Rank for that combat. The timing and defending role matter; it is not a permanent increase.
The historical lens
Lian Po is remembered as a Zhao commander. In the Shiji’s Changping narrative, he pursues a defensive strategy before being replaced by Zhao Kuo. He did not command Zhao’s final disastrous attack.
Reading the illustration
The art direction pairs a weathered veteran with earthen fortifications and an oxblood cloak.
Rank measures game combat strength, not historical seniority. Unit names and special abilities are modern design interpretations. Read the rules.
